Family


Funk Flows Family or often called the FFF, a group that engages in Graffiti or Street Art from Medan is still active today and consists of three personnel namely Jericho (Iyeq), Smane Two, Angga (Onggoo) and Prase.

Iyeq and Smane Two is the originator of Funk Flows Family in late 2008; formed from broken-join of two other graffiti Crew the Monsters of Graffiti (MOG) and Street Vandalism Squad (SVS). MOG-member Iyeq, Gilang (St. Gee / Mephisbelle 96), Krisman (Archenius) was formed in 2006 when they were still in high school St. Thomas 1. In the same year SVS has also been formed, consisting of Smane and Ahmed his brothers class at Harapan 1 High School.

Along the way, MOG is not so active in illegal graffiti activity. The pictures are done mostly as a classroom decoration, tag or throw up his personnel are very rarely found in the walls of the streets of Medan. In contrast to the SVS, Smane and Ahmed pretty heavily popularized throw up and pass his name tag on a wall illegally. No wonder so many people as well as other graffiti perpetrators SVS questioned at the time.

Year 2007 is the beginning of the proof that graffiti has begun to be accepted by the public, especially the youth in the city of Medan with the holding of the first graffiti contest by Yamaha at Plaza Medan Fair parking. Contest that gets a good response, the graffiti writer known for his tag, piece, throw up and its on the road, attend this contest. There are also several groups in attendance was Rioter, MOG, SVS, STC (Street Taint Crew), Suck Crew, Fariz (Frz), and others. Here is the beginning of a meeting of the sectarian graffiti, exchange of information and contacts, to the idea of ​​drawing together. Often meet and gather fellow street art lovers and doers of Medan at a later time to make connections with one another to close, including Smane and Iyeq that ultimately decided to make a side project that Funk Family Flows the goals initially only as a duo team at the contest graffiti next. Funk Flows name itself is taken from one of the title track Iyeq favorite musicians. As Funk music, he expects the group is able to bring a new spirit to all members as well as lovers of graffiti through the work they produce. Coincidentally or not, victory after victory is often achieved by FFF through graffiti contest to create a relationship between the two actors graffiti is more closely in line with the release of Iyeq of MOG (MOG other members create a new group called The Forgotten Talent) and vacuum SVS from the world of street art Medan is because Ahmed began to focus the school. Iyeq and Smane started to solidify Funk Flows Family through some pictures and graffiti vandalism on the road.

Until now Funk Flows Family are still active in the street. And in 2011, Funk Flows Family formed a side project called Heaven Spot, a brand that is trying to facilitate the provision of graffiti tools in Medan and surrounding areas. Heaven Spot aiming for the beginning of the commercial container Funk Flows Family has shifted its function as one of passion graffiti / street art Medan which was put out in 2010. At the end of 2011 was also Rack in as members of the new Funk Flows Family and active work in Medan with Smanetwo. This is evidenced by the implementation of several events has been made by the Heaven Spot Launching Party (in collaboration with the ISAD, Clairy and DripsnDrops) and Medan Graffiti Reunion in 2012 and many more.


YERIKHO NAEKTUA

A visual artist, illustrator and graphic designer, was born in Medan and now stay and live in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He started to draw graffiti in 2005 when he was in Junior High School and try to make it on the street in 2006-2007 with his crew called Monsters of Graffiti. After that he tried to make another crew as nice as family with Iqbal Abidin a.k.a Smane Two. It was named Funk Flows Family.

When he was in Yogyakarta, he decided to stop to use aerosol as his equipment on the street. He used brush, acrylic and make some mural typography, script with another artist in there. He loved all of style, mostly Art Nouveau, Surealism and Cubism and contemporary.

SMANE TWO

Smane Two Was born in Medan and also live in that city. He started to draw some graffiti and street art when he was Junior High School Student with his friend in a crew named Street Vandalism Squad (SVS) 2006-2007. He met Iyeq in some event and built a crew Funk Flows Family till now.

A red bear character was the first style he drew in the street, and now he tried to draw wild style typography of Smane and addicted with it. Heaven Spot is the graffiti equipments supllier where based in in Medan City that made by iqbal and iyeq in the end of 2011.

ONGGO

Angga Maeswara a.k.a Onggoo. One of the best Graffiti artist from Medan, Indonesia. He started draw graffiti in 2007, when he was in junior high school student in a crew named VSC with his friend Fazar a.k.a Shen and they make tag, throwie, and some piece together on the street. His 1st style was all about abstract or wildstyle and 2D but now he learned and enjoy draw character with many more emotion. He's one of the famous graffiti artist in his brotherhood.
He join with Funk Flows Family in 2011 until now and Heaven Spot too.

PRASE

Dwi Prasetyo, a.k.a Prase was born in Cikarang, West Java but now he was living in Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatera.  He started to paint since he was in primary school and felt that painting would be the part of his life. “My Friend, Arone was my friend in junior high school and he was a graffiti writter. He shown me a graffiti he made and it was awesome . I told him that I wanted to make graffiti. In April 2012, I painted my very first peace on the wall.” Prase did wild style graffiti font. He told that wild style painting was not just about beautiful line and color, but it needed precision and accuracy. Prase was the new member of  Funk Flows Family.
